I would be lying if I said I’m not looking forward to this. More about
Yamada Nagamasa and the Japanese colony in the Thai kingdom of
อยุธยา (Ayutthaya) here. For some cool storyboards for the film and plot synopsis, go
here.
Ayutthaya should not be confused with the northern Indian city, Ayodhya–the traditional birth city of Rama, the hero of the Indian epic, Ramayana (which shouldn’t be confused with the Thai version of the epic, the Ramakien)– though King Ramathibodi did name it after the ancient Indian city.

Found via
James Smith. Another mini-series I’m currently reading is
Brian Wood and
Davide Gianfelice“s
Northlanders. The art is quite striking in its simplicity despite it occasionall being somewhat graphic (check come of the work at
Wood’s Flickr set). But I was always a sucker for Northern European Viking Age themed comics.

It looks like I might be presiding over a presentation of the plasq desktop publishing program, Comic Life, at this year’s ILF (Indiana Library Federation) annual conference this November in Indianapolis.
I hadn’t heard about the program, but for those interested–and this looks like a neat application for fotoromanzi or foto-fumetti (photo illustrated comics)–you can download a trial version for Windows here and for Mac here.

It’s been so long since I’ve been in the loop re: comics that I’ve missed some of the more interesting collaborative developments. Coalition Comics is the brainchild of Mike Carey and brought to you by MySpace Comic Books and Virgin Comics. Perusing some blogs I came across Juan Navarro’s blog about this and other similar projects.
Had I not been on the Virgin Comics mailing list I would have completely missed it as I clicked on the link to the upcoming Deepak Chopra’s Buddha #1 which I’m really stoked about since I’ve (finally) started reading Tezuka’s Buddha.
It’s been a while since I’ve been involved with the comics blogging world, though it was nice to have the break.
