Jon will be performing a live score with Sulh to Zhang Shichuan’s “Romance of a Fruit Peddler” 掷果缘, the oldest surviving silent film in China from 1922 at the IUS Ogle Center. The score will feature traditional sizhu (silk and bamboo) and folk music, as well as arrangements of modern compositions by Chinese and Chinese-American composers. This is a collaborative event with Camera Lucida, an interactive video and music project co-founded by Sulh’s artistic director, Jon Silpayamanant.
