Nebal is joined with guest scholar of several non-European traditions including extensive research on Arabic Music, Jon Silpayamanant. We’re going to discuss his growing bibliography of maqam research going back to al-Kindi in the 10th century, Arabic music’s relationship to other musical traditions, including Western European Classical, and his own background in music scholarship.
