Intro
This resource page lists cello method books and treatises from all over the world. Listed here also are methods and treatises for the viol/viola da gamba and other variants of cello-like instruments found in Europe. It also includes non-Western methods for the cello, of which there are a steadily increasing number from the mid twentieth century going into the twenty-first century.1
As with all resources here and at Mae Mai, this is a work in progress.

- See Atanasov (2018: Page 3). ↩︎
- Atanasav (2018: Page 3) gives the date as “1806 (1808?)” while the IMSLP page gives the date as “ca. 1812.” ↩︎
- Atanasov (2018: Page 3) lists this “ca. 1809” work of the same title as the “1806” work, though it’s unclear if this is just a later edition of the earlier work or a new work itself. ↩︎
- Atanasov (2018: Page 3) states this was “published soon after Duport” and places it chronologically immediately after Duport’s Essai sur le doigte du violoncelle […]. The given birthdate (1800) from the IMSLP Francisco Brunetti page would make this method published when Brunetti was nine years old. The birthdate is likely incorrect. ↩︎
