The Mothership Ensemble is a new music and experimental music collective based in the Louisville Metro area. The ensemble was founded in 2011 and directed by composers Rylee Short and Jon Silpayamanant. Jacob Gotlib served in an advisory and marketing role for the ensemble during the 2013-2014 season.

The Mothership Ensemble seeks to increase the performance and awareness of contemporary music in Louisville through unique programming in unconventional venues. The group constantly seeks and commissions new music from young and local composers while continuing to present essential, yet underrepresented works of the 20th and 21st centuries. Mothership maintains an “open” membership, welcoming anyone in the community that is interested in performing contemporary music to join them.

The Mothership Ensemble has been on hiatus since 2018.
