Émile Cohl’s “Fantasmagorie” is considered to be the first animated film. Released on 17 August 1908, the film is composed of 700 drawings on negative film which created the “blackboard” effect which may have been an attempt to mimic Blackton’s 1906 “Humorous Phases of Funny Faces” which was literally drawn on a blackboard.
The soundtrack is by Noiseman433 (Jon Silpayamanant) that’s modified from a track, “Noise Event No. 14” from the album Mondo Demo (1998).
